Born Poor? Wonderful!

by Dr. Napoleon Hill

You were born poor? Wonderful! So were Abraham Lincoln, and Thomas Edison, and Andrew Carnegie, and Henry Ford.

You have something in common with the truly great!

Had you been born with a silver spoon in your mouth, you would have been deprived of the opportunity to make yourself strong and resourceful through the necessity for struggle.

For struggle - as the biologists, sociologists, philosophers, and historians know - is the prime way of life. It's nature's system of sorting out the strong from the weak, of making sure that Man, as well as the animals and plants is constantly improved. In that sense, it is the will of the Creator driving us toward perfection.

Anyone can overcome poverty through determination and faith.

Sure, the fight will be a hard one. But the rewards will be so much more appreciable.

Your attitude will have a strong bearing, however, on how hard the struggle will be. Accept it as a challenge, rather than a curse, and you find the fight much easier.

There is no obstacle that can prevent you from achieving financial success if you approach it with a positive mental attitude, with full knowledge that nay stumbling block can be turned into a stepping stone to greater heights of achievement.

Is lack of education holding you back? There are night schools, adult education classes, public libraries, and correspondence courses - all available at little or no cost - that can help you win an education quickly.

Do you suffer from a physical handicap? Your city, county, and state have rehabilitation centers which will minimize the disability or impediment and help you realize your dreams of achievement.

All things are possible for the person with determination and courage.

The journey of 1,000 miles begins with but a single step.

Only you can take that first step.

Decide now, this instant, on exactly what you want to achieve. Write down the goal. Commit it to memory. Keep it always before you. Then map out step-by-step the exact course you plan to follow in making it come true. Once you have done this, you are ready to take that first step toward success.

You cannot, however, ever expect to stumble your way to a higher station in life. You must have a purpose and a plan, plus the determination to carry them to fruition.

Remember, none of us is doomed to permanent poverty.

Unless we doom ourselves.

Using Your Hidden Assets

by Dr. Napoleon Hill

Each of us has locked within us all that is necessary to achieve wealth and greatness. It’s merely a matter of learning to use these hidden assets, of investing them so to speak, so we can cash in on them.

The tragic thing is that so many go through life without ever putting them to use. Sometimes, trouble and adversity is necessary to make people use their resourcefulness and brain power to achieve success.

A bookkeeper lost his job as Christmas was approaching. He had no money to buy his 10-year-old son a gift. Instead of merely despairing, he went to work making the boy a gift.

Using two wheels from a discarded baby carriage, a few pieces of lumber from the basement, and some bright red paint, he constructed a toy that captured the attention of the entire neighborhood.

Other children wanted similar toys. The demand grew so fast that the unemployed bookkeeper turned his basement into a factory, then moved his production to a real industrial plant.

The toy the bookkeeper designed was called the “scooter.”

Or consider the case of a soldier returned from World War I. He had been a salesman before the war but was not unemployed. He used his hidden assets too. He took a chunk of ice cream, stuck a stick in it for a handle, dipped it in chocolate covering—and the Eskimo Pie was born!

Then there was a young man working as a filling station helper in Dallas. The work was hard, hours long, pay short—all adding up to a state of mind I call “constructive discontentment.”

The young man began selling for a publisher of children’s books. But instead of approaching parents, he made friends with school teachers and got their permission to tell the children in class about his books.

Then he would ask the children to arrange an appointment with their parents so he could sell them the books. The plan worked wonderfully and the last time I saw the young man he was preparing to go into the publishing business for himself.

Have you searched carefully for any “hidden” resources you’ve overlooked simply because they weren’t in some form you could bank immediately?

Have you some plan or idea which might prove of great value if you brought it into the open and put it to use?

A very successful man once gave this splendid formula for gaining wealth.

“Get some useful item that will bring repeat sales,” said he. “Then put everything you have into taking it to the millions of people who need it.”

His name was F. W. Woolworth. He didn’t create anything new. He merely took something old and gave it a new method of sales distribution.

The opportunities our country offers today are greater than ever—and growing constantly. Think, for example, of the millions to be made by someone who devises some simple method of reducing traffic accidents.

Somewhere you have unused assets. Put them to work for you and make yourself financially independent.

An invitation from a friend....

I am attending the one on the 13th, though it says 6th on this invite...let me know if you would like to join me...

Dear my amazing friends!

Year 2010 is just a step away and hope all of you are having a great holiday season!

First of all, I would like to thank you all for your support, guidance, encouragement, friendship and love you provided to me this year. I would not be who I am today without you, and you all play an important role in my life. Thank you SOOOOOOOOO much!!!

This year has been an exciting and amazing year for me. I had so much personal growth, learned a lot of new things, became half vegetarian and started daily exercise, made new friends around the world, started a new chapter with my partner, resigned from the company that I worked for 11 years and started my own business! I am very excited about what year 2010 will bring to me.

I would like to share a little bid about my plan in 2010.

The first thing that is coming up for me is the Rich Woman Night!
I will be hosting a Rich Woman Night at Success Resources on 6 January 2010 for women only! It will be a fun night with learning and networking with like-minded women. You will learn how to unleash Rich Woman in you and start creating a life you desire for. You will also meet empowering successful women in Singapore!

I know that many men would be asking me if they can get in to the room either to learn or to meet highly motivated fabulous women *grin*, but I have to say no... It will be a special night for women to spend time to take care of themselves. But ask your girlfriends, colleagues, wives, sister, mum and aunties, the woman you care to join us! They will love it!

To all my girlfriends: I would be so excited if you could come and support me for my first event in 2010, Rich Woman Night!

Date: 6 January 2010
Time: 7pm
Place: Success Resources Pte Ltd
No, 10/11 Pahang Street (click here for a map)

Let me explain a little bid to those people who don't know what Rich Woman is. Rich Woman is a bestselling book written by Kim Kiyosaki, whose husband is also a bestselling author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Rich Woman is a woman who is not only rich financially, but she is rich in heart and spirit and live a rich life. Kim is a perfect role model of a successful woman who is charismatic, independent, rich yet friendly, fun and beautiful! Her book was a wake-up call for me to create a life I want when I was frustrated that my life was out of control and waiting for someone or something to change my life. I am so inspired to share her teaching with as many Asian women as possible. I can't want to see her in Scottsdale Arizona next month and I will share more about Rich Woman Forum during the Rich Woman Night.

So I would love to see all my girlfriends on 6 January to have fun together. I strongly believe that empowering women makes other women, men, children and whole world happy.

"Behind every successful woman, there is a supporting man".

May 2010 be filled with abundant of joy, happiness, laughter, love, prosperity and health! Hope to catch up with you soon!!!

God bless you all,

Mamiko Ito

Keep Your Mind Free

by Dr. Napoleon Hill

An open mind is a free mind.

The person who closes his mind to new ideas, concepts and people is locking a door that enslaves his own mentality. Intolerance is a two-edged scythe that on its backswing cuts off opportunities and lines of communication. When you open your mind, you give your imagination freedom to act for you.

It’s hard to realize now that less than six decades ago there were men who laughed at the Wright Brothers’ experiments at flight. And barely three decades ago, Lindbergh could scarcely find backers for his trans-Atlantic flight. Today, men of vision freely predict man will soon fly to the moon – but no one’s laughing. It’s the scoffers who are held in scorn.

A closed mind is a sign of a static personality. It lets progress pass it by and hence can never take advantage of the opportunities progress offers.

Only if you have an open mind can you grasp the full impact of the first rule of the science of success: “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.”

It would be well for you to take stock of yourself. Are you among those who say “I can” and “It will be done” or do you fall in the group that says “Nobody can” – at the very moment somebody else is accomplishing it? An open mind requires faith – in yourself, your fellow man and the Creator who laid out a pattern of progress for Man and his universe.

The days of superstition are gone. But the shadow of prejudice is as dark as ever. You can come out into the light by closely examining your own personality. Do you make decisions based on reason and logic rather than on emotion and preconceived ideas? Do you listen closely, attentively and thoughtfully to the other fellow’s arguments? Do you seek for facts rather than hearsay and rumor?

The human mentality withers unless in constant contact with the stimulating influence of fresh thought. The Communists, in their brain-washing technique, know that the quickest way to break a man’s will is to isolate his mind, cutting him off from books, newspapers, radio and other normal channels of intellectual communication.

Under such circumstances, the intellect dies for lack of nourishment. Only the strongest will and the purest faith can save it.

Is it possible that you have imprisoned your mind in a social and cultural concentration camp? Have you subjected yourself to a brain-washing of your own making, isolating you from ideas that could lead to success? If so, it’s time to sweep aside the bars of prejudice that imprison your intellect.

Open your mind and set it free!
